“Very friendly and attentive to my questions. Service was completed timely and cost effective. I enjoy working with Garry’s Service Center.”
My name is Jeff White and I am the proud owner of Garry’s Service Center in Concord, NH and Eurasian Autoworks in Tilton, NH. People who know and meet me often ask how and why I ever became a shop owner given I do not have a background in automotive repair. This gives me the chance of sharing my story of how I took an adverse situation and turned it into a change in careers and even more importantly an improved family life.
At the height of the economic downturn of 2008-2009 I found myself laid off from a senior management job working at a hi-tech company for over 15 years. After months of not finding a job in my former profession, lots of self-reflection, and the support of my wife, I took the opportunity to pursue my longtime dream of owning and working in a family owned automotive repair business.
Although never a professional mechanic, I’ve always had a passion for cars and trucks as I grew up in a family who drove a long list of American muscle cars from the 60’s and 70’s. My profession, while formerly working in the computer field, was primarily focused on customer service and after having my personal cars and trucks serviced at dealership and various independent facilities over the years, I knew there must be a better way. I was confident that I could provide the services and customer service experience that I expected but seldom received.
In November of 2009, after spending many months searching and interviewing shop owners who were interested in selling their business I found Garry’s Service Center in Concord, NH. The former owners, Garry and Theresa, founded Garry’s in 1991 and after almost 20 years were ready to retire. Garry and Theresa’s personalized business appealed to me and lined up with my goals – it seemed to be a perfect match, so I purchased Garry’s and never looked back.
In January of 2016, after successfully running Garry’s for seven years, I wanted to expand my business and began looking at other shops in Central New Hampshire. I quickly found Rick from Eurasian Autoworks in Tilton. Rick, like Garry and Theresa, had built up a successful and highly reputable independent shop over the past twenty years but was looking to retire. Rick seemed like a great guy, the staff was a great group of guys and the business was running smoothly so on April 1st of 2016 I purchased Eurasian Autoworks.
I feel fortunate to have successfully achieved my professional dreams while also improving the quality of life for my entire family. Each day, I look forward to meeting and greeting new and longtime customers, and working with a team of individuals who are committed to provide the best customer service and auto repair experience in Central New Hampshire.
I’ve been married for 28 years to my loving, beautiful and supportive wife Kelly. We met working at Burger King in Ashland, NH while finishing college at Plymouth State. We have two great kids, Jason and Kaitlin, and a dog Stella who is one of our shop mascots. Kelly and I have lived in Pembroke for over 25 years and have strong ties to our family, friends and community. I am truly fortunate that my family has supported me in following my dreams and that I was able to successfully leave the corporate hi-tech world. The best parts of being a shop owner is that it has enabled me to spend more time with my family.
